Artist Statement of Meghan Lynch:

Meghan Lynch is a Boston based pop singer and songwriter. Her most recent releases “Rare” and “Just Don’t” showcase her love for piano based songs intertwined with raw and detail-oriented storytelling lyrics.

Lots of times she is writing about relationships, personal experiences, or people she meets on a daily basis. Always looking to connect with listeners she strives to create music that is honest, relatable, and catchy. Making others happy is her main driver in creating music. Whether that’s performing for a patient at a children’s hospital or talking in between songs with a 4-year-old who wants to be a singer, you can clearly see she is having the time of her life onstage.

  • Backstory to “Just Don’t”:

At first, I never really considered releasing a song that wasn’t about me, but when I was talking on the phone with a friend one evening I was so overcome with emotion that as soon as we finished our call, I started singing lines into my phone and headed for my keyboard. Ninety minutes later I had finished the original song that would become my next single released June 25th. Although “Just Don’t” didn’t come from one of my own personal experiences I definitely connect and resonate with various parts of the song and feel others will too. When listeners hear this song I want them to have the strength to move forward from any negative relationships and recognize that they deserve an absolutely incredible love- and should never settle for anything less! I want them to feel powerful, truly see their worth, and finally draw the line saying I’m not going to be treated like this anymore. “Just Don’t” was recorded in Nashville, TN by producer Justin Wantz (artist credits include Ashanti) and is an empowering pop piano ballad about standing up to an ex to get the love you know you deserve.

  • Backstory to “Rare”:

There are so many people you come in contact with on a day-to-day basis. Some of those people may leave a lasting impression and others are just a blur while walking a city street. There are people I’ve known for most of my life that I still feel guarded around and those that I’ve met once or twice that I feel I can tell my entire life story to upon first meeting them. It’s so funny how life works that way and I have no true explanation why that’s the case. It’s that warm and safe aura that surrounds certain people completely unbeknownst to them. For me when I find those flickers of connection, I want to hold onto it as long as possible because I’ve learned those people are special and incredibly… rare.

Biography of Meghan Lynch:

just don't by meghan lynch

I was born & raised in the south shore of Massachusetts, but have lived all over the United States. I’m a total wanderer at heart so besides living in Massachusetts, I’ve lived in Vermont, Colorado, and most recently Nashville, TN. I’m currently based in Boston, MA but will be checking out the music scene in Los Angeles early this fall 2021!

Growing up, Taylor Swift was definitely a huge inspiration and influence. It has been so inspiring to have a female in the music industry to look up to with such an incredible career. She is a master in her craft in every way as a performer, artist, and songwriter. Besides Taylor, I’m huge fans of Lewis Capaldi, Wrabel, Ed Sheeran, Jake Scott, Ben Rector, and JC Stewart. I love writing about personal experiences and gravitate towards artists that lean towards those raw & honest storytelling lyrics. If you hand me any sad love song on piano- I’ll be instantly hooked! I always think the best songs are the ones where you feel the artist wrote a song specifically for you. If I can make my listeners feel that way listening to my music, then I’ve done my job right!

As a music artist myself, the pop singer-songwriter genre is personally my favorite (plus any tracks on piano). You’ll definitely find this sound showcased more on my recent releases “Rare” and “Just Don’t”. When pitching songs for other artists or for sync placement I also write in the country genre.

I have been singing ever since I was little, performing in choirs & musicals from elementary school through college. I loved playing characters onstage but thought it would be fun to play myself for a bit! Besides my music minor in college, I don’t have any formal songwriting training- but I’ve definitely had lots of help along the way! In college my piano teacher Arielle definitely helped get the ball rolling in helping me understand how to put chords to lyrics. Then I attended the Martha’s Vineyard Songwriting Festival two years in a row where my weekend instructors had been hit songwriters Clay Mills, Marty Dodson, Jimmy Yeary, and Brent Baxter. After that I attended the Tin Pan South Songwriting Seminar and joined the Nashville Songwriters Association International getting mentored by professional songwriters throughout the year within person sessions, song evaluations, and workshops. I’m still a member today and have been lucky enough to be named on their songwriters “Ones to Watch” list twice. I’d also be a regular at my PRO, BMIs in person workshops as well! I always want to be growing as a songwriter so I’m a big proponent of taking advantage of any musical opportunity I can be a part of. Lately I’ve been doing one on one sessions with Whitney at the Marketing Mixtape which has been so helpful!

I’ve been incredibly lucky to have my various releases aired on the radio! You may have heard my tracks on Boston’s 101.7 The Bull, Worcester’s 98.9 Nash Icon, Vermont’s The Point Radio Meghan and WATD 95.9 Almost Famous Radio. In summer 2021, I’ll also be Boston’s commercial radio personality, Carolyn Kruse’s artist Catch of the Week. Outside the US, my singles have been featured internationally in England, the Netherlands, and Australia. As far as performances go, I’ve performed all over the United States from coffee shops to county fairs including Topsfield Fair’s 200th Anniversary. I enjoy the intimate settings like the famous Douglas Corner Cafe in Nashville and mainstage opportunities like performing at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA.

Today I am a member of NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International), the Los Angeles Songwriters Collective, my PRO is BMI, and then a few of my co-writers utilize a lot of the services of Songtown. I am also an active volunteer with “Musicians On Call”!
