The Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre invited artists living in the Niagara Region to submit original designs for the 2026 Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro Box Beautification Competition.

Proposals could draw inspiration from nature, local history, landmarks and the character of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Three designs were selected for installation on hydro boxes: two by a jury and one through a community People’s Choice vote.

All eligible submissions were presented in a group exhibition at the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre. Each selected artist received a $700 honorarium, with installation scheduled for early October 2026.
