BARCELONA: The ITSLIQUID Group has opened the fifth edition of Barcelona Contemporary, an international exhibition of photography, painting, video, installation, sculpture, and performance art. The exhibition runs from July 18 through July 28, 2025, at HUB/ART Barcelona on Carrer del Dr. Trueta. The opening reception took place on July 18 at 6 p.m.

More than 30 artists from 20 countries are participating, offering perspectives that turn attention to questions of identity, transformation, and cultural intersection. The exhibition is divided into two thematic sections. Mixing Identities explores the hidden dimensions of selfhood through immersive experiences that evoke the labyrinths of consciousness, while Future Landscapes expands the focus outward to consider abstraction, freedom, and shifting boundaries between the body, the city, and the natural environment.

The selection reflects a wide range of approaches. Dang Duong Bang draws on Vietnamese traditions while infusing them with decades of European experience, creating paintings that hover between origin and reinvention. Xavi Figueras treats the human figure as fluid, dissolving boundaries between body and space through the play of water and light. Sonia J presents tactile abstract works that trace a path from constraint to freedom, her layered surfaces suggesting identity as something imperfect yet transformative.

Other participants include MatMax, whose urban compositions combine photography, oil, charcoal, and spray paint to shift ordinary city scenes into meditations on memory, and Crystal D. Evans, who combines image, sound, and text to embrace ambiguity and fragmentation as essential to human experience.

Together, these voices transform Barcelona Contemporary 2025 into a site of encounter. The works do not offer fixed interpretations, but open layered reflections on how we inhabit the world physically, emotionally, and culturally. The exhibition is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at HUB/ART Barcelona.
